B&N Nook Tablet Incoming, With a 10 Inch Screen; Pops Up at FCC

Barnes & Noble has been competing on the e-reader market for a while now, but they’re ready to go with the big boys now. The company is ready to launch one of its few tablets, a 10 incher that just appeared at the FCC. Let’s see what we know.

Well, actually there’s a 7 inch NOOK tablet launched in 2016, but big slates? That’s a first. Tablet Monkeys also claims that aside from the 10 inch NOOK unit there should also be a 7 inch upgraded slate. According to the FCC listing, the 10 incher is made by a Chinese company called Jingwah Information Technology and it comes with a 6300 mAh battery, WiFi ac and Bluetooth.

Sadly we have no info about the CPU, screen resolution, key specs and more. We only have a picture of the back of the device, which confirms it belongs to the NOOK Tablet series. It’ll probably have some entry level or midrange specs, in order to compete with the Amazon Fire tablets. Maybe there’s a quad core or octa core Snapdragon CPU inside, maybe a MediaTek, something like 2 or 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage.

B&N is struggling to stay alive, keeping open the bricks and mortar bookstores in USA. They have the NOOK Tablet and NOOK HD and Nook HD+, but they focused more on a Samsung partnership rather than making its own slates. They branded Galaxy Tab devices and used the NOOK software. Expect a low price for the newcomer.
