FlexPai is the First REAL Foldable Phone, Comes With Snapdragon 8150 CPU
Even if the past 3 days brought us launches of OnePlus, Apple, Huawei and Nubia products, the biggest surprise came today. A device called FlexPai debuted and it managed to get hold of two premieres: the first device with a Snapdragon 8150 CPU and also the first REAL foldable phone.
This device has a 7.8 inch screen when unfolded and it provides a 4:3 aspect ratio. If you fold it, you reduce it to a more reasonable 4 inch unit. It’s also the very first device to use the Snapdragon 8150 CPU. We’re dealing with an AMOLED screen panel here, one that folds down the mid section.
The software platform on board is called Water OS and it switches to using half of the screen, while it shows a wallpaper on the other half. There’s a dual camera here, a combo of 16 MP and 20 MP sensors, with one of the modules sporting a telephoto lens.
FlexPai has a 7.6 mm thick waistline, but when folded it gets to 15.2 mm. The hinge has been tested with 200.000 times of folding. The base config has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, but there are also versions with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB or 256 GB of storage.
A special fast charge technology is supported, with a charge from zero to 80% in an hour. The starting price is $1300, which is rather steep, but hey, you pay for innovation.
