The Oppo RX17 Pro comes to Europe featuring a triple camera

Chinese phone maker Oppo has announced its latest phone to take on Europe; the RX17 Pro.

It’s a re-named version of the R17 Pro that Oppo has previously announced in other territories and it will cost 599 Euros and be available on 16 November.

As yet, there’s no word on UK availability although Oppo has insisted that it will be bringing its phones to the UK. We believe the RX17 Pro will come here, possibly alongside the Find X slider phone.

Oppo clearly wants to follow the success of other Chinese brands and break into the European market. With Xiaomi also entering the UK through Three stores as well, we’re set to have an intriguing choice of phones in 2019.

Oppo owns OnePlus and it doesn’t take an expert in telephone design to see the similarity between the RX17 and the recently reviewed OnePlus 6T which costs 550 Euros or £499.

Indeed, the front of the 128GB phone (6GB memory) is basically the same, with a 6.4-inch 1,080 x 2,340 AMOLED display covered in Gorilla Glass 6 and with an in-display fingerprint reader underneath. It has a 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. While the 6T features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 platform, the RX17 Pro’s is downgraded slightly to the Snapdragon 710.

The compensation is that as well as a 25 megapixel selfie camera you get triple cameras including a 3D ToF (Time of Flight) camera on the rear – this enables you to capture 3D images. The other two rear cameras are a 12 megapixel wide-angle snapper with Ultra Night Mode and the 20 megapixel f/2.6 main camera.

There’s also VOOC flash charge which means you’ll be able to charge it to 40 percent in 10 minutes. The battery inside the phone is split into two (2x1850mAh), while the charger and handset have specialist chips so the charge can be safely monitored.

The RX17 Pro’s ColorOS 5.2 runs atop Android 8.1 Oreo, not Android 9.0 Pie as yet. It’ll be available in emerald green or radiant mist gradients (blue/pink).

Oppo also formally announced the 349 Euro RX17 Neo for Europe as well.
